Spanish Events Guide
Spring and Summer in Spain means a whole array of events on offer – from festivals to Easter celebrations, you won't struggle to find something to do. Here's the events ParkCloud recommends in Madrid, Barcelona, and Seville!
Madrid
Easter
From Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, thousands of people flock to Madrid to attend the processions, enjoy the atmosphere created by street musicians and enjoy everyone's colourful attire! With concerts across the city, processions and restaurants and patisseries serving Easter food and goodies, Easter in Madrid is unmissable.
The main festivities take place in Plaza Mayor, but ParkCloud recommends you leave your car slightly outside of the city and get public transport in. For example, drop your car at Garaje Premier Atocha, a low cost car park located 1 minute from Atocha station. Enjoy your Easter celebrations knowing your car is safe in this undercover car park – plus it's just 10 minutes on the Metro to Plaza Mayor!
San Isidro Festival
Commemorating the patron saint of Madrid, the San Isidro Festival is the highlight of spring. Lasting five days, the festivities feature over 50 concerts with varied musical styles, live theatre, dancing in the street, children's activities and street processions! Combining tradition and modernity, the festival has endless activities for the whole family, and takes place from the 11th to the 15th of May.
The San Isidro Park hosts lots of the activities, but with how many people head there, finding a parking space can be tricky. Why not leave your car at the station and use public transport! Drop your car at AparcaGo Madrid Atocha, and board the Metro from there. This under cover car park is one minute from the station, so you have easy access to the entire city!
World Gay Pride 2017
Madrid Pride brings together nearly 2 million people in the main streets and squares of the capital. The global LGBT festival is held mostly in the neighbourhood of Chueca, with the World Pride Parade being the main event. 2017 marks the 40th anniversary of Pride, with the Parade happening on the 1st of July. Starting in the centre of Madrid by Atocha Station, and ending in Plaza de Colón, the parade features over 30 floats from different companies, associations, charities and more. Once it's over, there'll be live music and speeches at Plaza de Colón.
If you want to celebrate diversity and love in Madrid this summer, it's not worth trying to park your car anywhere near where the parade takes place. Instead, drop your car at Parking Florauto Alcalá - guarded and covered parking located conveniently near Plaza de Colón! Simply park your car and wait for the parade to arrive.
Barcelona
Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week
Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week is the European leader in bridal fashion, with a range of over 20,000 wedding dresses and party outfits from 260 national and international fashion firms. Find fashion for brides, grooms, and ceremonial accessories! A 6 day event taking place from the 25th - 28th of April, there are also fashion shows across each day with over 400 outfits shown.
Happening at the Fire de Barcelona Gran Via venue, why not park at Barcelona Centro - Parking viajeros. This low cost car park is ideal for anyone visiting Barcelona – not only for the Gran Via venue, but to enjoy the rest of the city. With Metro and bus stops close by, it’s the ideal place to leave your car while you enjoy everything the city has to offer.
Seville
Easter Week in Seville
Holy week in Seville is known as Semana Santa de Sevilla, and is one of the city's biggest annual festivals. Processions called 'pasos' take place on the city's streets with floats and people in traditional costumes.
Taking place this year from the 9th to the 16th of April, there are pasos every day, plus plenty of opportunities to enjoy delicious food and drink. Processions leave churches all over the city from early afternoon onwards, snaking through the city and back to their resting place hours later. The final lap of the official route goes from La Campana to Calle Sierpes to the cathedral, and around the Giralda and the Bishop's Palace.
If you want to visit Seville during the holy week, its best to leave your car a little further out of the city centre and travel in. Why not try Parking San Jose School – an undercover secure and modern car park located in Los Remedios quarter. From there, it's just a quick journey on the bus to the festivities. Plus they don't charge extra during Semana Santa!
