Dallas Love Field Airport is a city-owned public airport 6 miles northwest of downtown Dallas, Texas. Dallas Love Field Airport was the main airport for Dallas until 1974 when Dallas Fort Worth International Airport opened. Several airlines have served Love Field in the past including American Airlines, American Freighter, Braniff International Airways and Capital Airlines, amongst many more.
Dallas Love Field is named after Moss L. Love, who while assigned to the U.S. Army 11th Cavalry, died in an airplane crash near San Diego, California on September 4, 1913.
